Business relationship management
Building a strong relationship is critical especially when it comes to small medium business and sales. The stronger your relationship is with your customer, the more likely they will be to refer your business.
It is a must for every business owners to make an attempt to build on the relationships you have with your customers. Greeting your customers “hi’, as they walk in and “goodbye” as they leave is not enough. The last thing you want to do is make your customer feel like a statistic.
You can let them know that their business with you is appreciated. Talk to them, strike up a non-business conversation with them. It could involve just about anything, such as the weather, sports, a movie, pets, etc. Any form of communication will do to let them know that doing their business with you is deeply valued.
You can also relate to them with non-business conversation and your customer will be put at ease and will get them talking. The more they talk to you, the more they will open up to you, opening the door for more sales opportunities.
Or, you can keep it simple. For a start, you ask for your customer’s name. And then address them by their names. Introduce yourself. Saying such things, like, “how’s it going today?” Or “how was your weekend?” Or “is there anything I can help you with today?” can really make a difference in building customer relations. Make your presence known and felt.
What’s more, your customer wants to be appreciated. So take a few minutes of your time to show them that you care about them as a customer. Showing your gratitude that they prefer your small medium business to others is beneficial to both you as the owner and to the customers. Showing your customer that you value and appreciate them will strengthen your ties with them.
Furthermore, another way to strengthen your relationship with your customer is to keep a handy list of all of your customer’s birthdays, anniversaries, and special events. Keep your eyes and ears open for when customers talk about up coming events in their lives such as children’s birthdays and graduations. When that special day approaches, you can send your customer a card, whether it is a holiday card, birthday or the likes. Just send it.
Your customers will appreciate the fact that you remembered them on their special day. This will only strengthen the relationship you already have with them.
Also, as their regular customer, they want to be at piece knowing that if something ever happened with their product or service, they would have you to turn to as their go to person. This will become your security measure because customer will have this in mind when your competition moves in and take them away.
Again, your most important asset in your small medium business is your customer, so build and strengthen the foundations you have with them. Buy building strong relationships; you will be building your sales.
