Business Startup or Franchising? Take your pick!!
Opening a business is a very challenging task as a small medium business proprietor. It takes a lot of time and sometimes it can be difficult. Before you can even begin, you need to decide which business idea works for you. Do you go for a franchise kind of business or a starting a business from scratch? These are the questions that need to be addressed first.
So this article is dedicated entirely about the difference about start-up business and franchise type of business. Let us first discuss what start-up is all about.
Starting a business from scratch can be daunting. A lot of people think that their big idea is the key to business success, and the reality is there are a million and one good ideas out there, but what’s going to make it into a small business is persistence, hard slog, putting in the time, putting in the effort, and being there. That’s the key thing.
Can you put a team together? Can you find the finance to get this up and running? Can you protect the business from others copying it? And is there a sufficient sized market that you can actually grow the business to a point where you can actually make money?
These queries are the basic principles that should be recognized first.
Another, is you’ve got to find the right business model, the right location and staff, and an appropriate form of legal ownership. And you’ve got to find the right location, employ good staff and implement new systems, and all this before the first customer is served.
The other type of small medium business is franchising. This is the opposite of starting up from scratch. Except that you’re a lot more controlled. But when you buy a business, you don’t need to have a lot of advertising and marketing to do since it is already an established company.
That’s one area where a good franchise can be very useful, because you’ve come with the goodwill that’s well established, and a name that’s known, and you get the opportunity to start your business without having to try and convince the customers that it’s a good business to deal with. All it needs from you is the financial start up. The rules and system of operation need not be set up by you. You adhere to the principles of the franchise company.
So whatever type of small medium business you want to open, do your research. Make sure the decisions you make are not an emotive decision, that you make decisions based on the numbers, and if you base them on the numbers and you’re confident that you can go forward and grow the business, you should go for it, don’t look back. Look forward all the time.
